Canada boasts a rich socio-cultural mix. This includes Asian- Canadians who speak Urdu, or its variant Hindi.

Syed Munif Ashar Malihabadi, Toronto, represents one of the modern Urdu poets, who have left an indelible mark  on Urdu poetry, espeically in its Ghazal genre. Ghazal in Urdu translates in to "talking to women", or "communicating with one's beloved". This definition, however, is classical and modern poetic expressions extend far beyond this narrow domain, and all the matters of life's philosophy are now treated in Ghazal frameworks.

Justuju Media, in association with Bazme Fanoos, Toronto,  has brought one of the 3 poetry collections of Munif Ashar منیف اشعر  on to the Internet. This is in the form of an eBook online using Google's servers at BlogSpot.

This is the second offering from Justuju, after it already successfully brought Maulana Mohammad Abubaker Musavvir's Classical Urdu Kalaam (Poetry) to the World of Urdu on the Internet.

Munif Ashar's poetry has been described by the Urdu greats, such as Dr. Farman Fatehpuri, Raghib Muradabadi, Professor Saher Ansari, Professor Afaq Siddiqui, Mushfiq Khawaja, and Mohsin Bhopali, as one of the most finest and representative of Modern Urdu Poetic Romanticism.

Munif Ashar has come out as an outspoken philosopher, and sociologist, in his heart rendering Urdu poetry. Some of his selective lines from Talkh wa Shireen.
